Amy Smeed, Head of Animation, Walt Disney Animation Studios, began her professional career in 1998 as an assistant on the production of Dinosaur. She went on to achieve full animator status in 2004 on Chicken Little and has since animated on the Disney features, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and the Oscar(r)-winning Frozen. Her other Disney animation credits include work on the theme park attraction Mickey’s Philharmagic and both of the award-winning Prep & Landing TV specials.
Born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, Smeed attended Western Michigan University for three years, before going on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997. Her dreams of becoming a painter and animator led her to seek work in the animation industry. Smeed’s next assignment is as Co-Head of Animation on the 2016 Disney animated feature Moana.
Jin Kim, Character Design Supervisor, Walt Disney Animation Studios, began his professional career in 1987 as an assistant animator in Korea. Jin joined Disney Animation in 1995 as an animator on the feature film Fantasia 2000. He continued working as an animator on Disney films such as Hercules, Tarzan, Treasure Planet, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, and The Princess and the Frog. In 2007, Jin moved into character design where he contributed to films such as Bolt, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and Frozen. Most recently he served as Character Design Supervisor on the Oscar(r)-winning Big Hero 6.
Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Jin attended Kookmin University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
